Info for your holiday

Welcome to our Istrian Villa and thank you for staying with us! We put together some short info about the property and the surroundings.

BBQ

Outside you can use the BBQ. Be so kind and clean the premise after use.
We can recommend a great butcher Mesnica Daniele in Višnjan. Another one is Cikili in Poreč. Excellent fish and seafood is just next to it at Ancora ribarnica. A bakery is also there at the corner. Try domaći kruh and burek

BIKING

Parenzana, an amazing cycling trail with breathtaking views over the region, extends on the railroad track from the beginning of the last century, from Trieste to Poreč, passing through Vižinada and Kaštelir. You can use the bikes in the lock room / behind the house for free. For rent: Bike Center Labinci

CHECK IN & OUT

Check in time is 4-10pm. Check out is till 10am.
Even if you have payed a cleaning service, we are always happy when there is less to do 😉
Please leave the keys in the key box if we don’t see each other at check out.

CITIES

Larger cities such as Poreč and Novigrad lie within a short drive distance where you find also big supermarkets and other facilities.

The old town of Poreč is for sure a must see. The harbour and Basilica are nice spots. If you want to enjoy food there:

Don’t miss the beautiful medieval towns of Grožnjan and Motovun, well-known by truffle lovers. The picturesque towns of Rovinj and Piran can be reached in about forty minutes by car and are real gems.

ENVIRONMENTAL FOOTPRINT

Tap water in Croatia is drinkable. Maybe you can enjoy it without buying bottled water.

Please note that deposits for bottles will only be returned with the receipt in the same supermarket.

Please close all windows/doors when using air-conditioning. Putting it more than 3°C below outside temperature increases chance of getting a cold.

EQUIPMENT

Under the main kitchen stairs/heating room you can find an iron, cleaning stuff etc.

FIRST AID KIT

is stored under the stairs in the main house kitchen or in the storage board next to the entrance. For any emergency the number is 112.

GARDEN

In the garden there are different fruits and herbs like figs, mint, salvia, oregano, rosemary. Feel free to use whatever you need or if you think a plant needs some water help it out 🙂
There is an automated watering system which starts in the morning. If you see that something might be wrong please contact us.

KIDS

For kids there are small playgrounds in the village and some amusement parks in the vicinity like Aquapark Istralandia, Aquacolors in Poreč and Dinopark in Funtana.

As an added value, if you wish to take some time for yourself and are in search for a support to gain some insights, our certified life coach for adults and youngsters can offer you coaching sessions within our warm and inspiring environment.

SWIMMING POOL

Please DON’T use sun cream or lotions and shower before using the pool. Follow the pool rules which are located next to the pool for your own safety.

The blankets from the house are not meant to be used for the pool area.

 

SURROUNDINGS

At the main road to Poreč, there are grocery stores, a bar, an ATM and a post office. In the immediate vicinity there are several restaurants and farmhouses with an exceptional traditional Istrian cuisine. Please see our map on the last page.

TOILET & WASTE WATER

Please DON’T flush any other product apart from toilet paper down the toilet. The house is connected to a biological septic. Baby wipes, diapers & other hygiene products will block it.

WASHING MACHINE & DISH WASHER

You may of course use the machines. There should be some powder / tabs under the sink in the kitchen. Please do not use it to wash aluminum products (e.g. Bialetti jug) or wooden objects.

WASTE

Recycling bins can be found next to the parking.

Please put them on the street if not already: Mondays (Kaštelir), Tuesdays (Vabriga), Wednesdays (Vranje Selo).

New bags are under the sink/oven.

WIFI

We have unlimited optical internet.

Istria is a paradise for lovers of good wine. Arman and Rossi (next to Vranje Selo), Geržinić (Ohnići: Malvazija), Benvenuti (Kaldir: amazing desert wines), Kozlović (Momian: Teran), Damjanić (Fuškulin: Borgonja)

CULTURE

1 Pula, amphitheater. The Romans built things to last, and this two thousand-year-old monument is still the dominating feature of Pula’s landscape.

2 Brijuni islands. An idyllic offshore paradise that once served as President Tito’s personal holiday resort.

3 Rovinj. Italianate, chic and bustling – the pick of the west coast resorts.

4 Poreč, Basilica of Euphrasius. A venerable sixth-century structure whose Byzantine-influenced mosaics are as good as any around the Mediterranean.

5 Kanfanar, Dvigrad ruins. Forested ruins of a town founded in the 1st century & abandoned in the 18th.

6 Grožnjan. Rich in historical resonances, the mellow hill town of Grožnjan seems a world away from the heavily touristed coast.

ACTIVITIES

1 Červar, Hawaii Beach. Start here at the small café with good burgers and head south. Along 3km gravel road you find some natural beaches till you reach the Campsite Ulika

2 Poreč, Materada Beach. North from Hotel Materada at the beginning of Poreč you find different kinds of beaches.

3 Dajla, Plaža Šćunac. A nice pebble beach at the western end of Dajla.

4 Premantura, protected natural park Cape Kamenjak. Perfect day trip to see Mediterranean wildlife, forest and beaches. Free entrance only when entering without car.

5 Učka, Nature park. Varying hiking and mountain-bike trails with highest peak of the whole Istrian peninsula.

6 Pazin, waterfall and zip line. Just behind Pazin at the road to Cerovlje you find a waterfall were you can even jump in the water from about 7m. In Pazin you can use the zip line in 100m height and fly across the valley.
